OnePlus recently announced the launch of their new 7 series with a cheaper OnePlus 7 and a more of an upgrade with the OnePlus 7 Pro. While the OnePlus 7 has recently come on sale on Amazon the OnePlus 6T is also available for a discounted price on Amazon.in.

Although most of the community feel like it is a fair ally to the OnePlus 7 Pro it might not be a viable upgrade to the OnePlus 6T. So if you are in the market for a new smartphone but aren’t looking to shell out more than 50,000 INR for the OnePlus 7 Pro and thinking about the 7. But should you buy it?

OnePlus 7 vs OnePlus 6T

Oneplus 7 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 while the 6T is powered by Snapdragon 845, the SoC upgrade is basically a better-built chipset which is more focused towards better processing and networks helping you to get faster bandwidth speeds. But there are not any significant changes on offer.

The display and build

Both devices have a 6.41″ Optic AMOLED display with a teardrop notch with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. Both devices have very similar pixel density and come with corning gorilla glass 6.
The build quality on both devices is really good and premium. You have a glass panel on the back. Right now the 6T is only available in Mirror black variant while there are a few colour options for the Op 7.
The Op 7 gets dual front-firing speakers while the 6T doesn’t. The Op 7 uses the microphone at the top which also acts as a second speaker to give you some sound.

The camera is a major difference between the successor and the predecessor. Both devices have a dual camera setup but the lens used is different. OnePlus 7 houses a 48MP+5MP primary camera with 8000 x 6000 image resolution setup which is a big upgrade from OP 6T’s 16MP+20MP setup with an image resolution of 4616 x 33464. You also get face detection and 2 x digital zoom on the 7 which aren’t available on the 6T.

Op 7 is recently launched on Amazon India and is available at a starting price of INR 32,999 for the 6 + 128GB variant, and the 8 + 256GB is available at INR 37,999 without any offers applied. The 6T is available at INR 27,999 for the 8 + 128GB variant and the 8 + 256GB variant comes at a price of INR 31,999 without any offers applied.

If you are looking to shell out a few more bucks for a major camera upgrade and a few minor upgrades here and there you should definitely consider the OnePlus 7 as your next smartphone but if you are looking for the bang for your buck buying the 6T is a far better option as you save your money and get a really solid smartphone.
