WhatsApp spotted testing Stickers on Windows Phone Beta

Messaging giant, WhatsApp may launch a new feature for its users soon.  This new feature will add more options to express one.  Currently, there is only emoji and Gif present for doing so. Facebook-owned WhatsApp has been spotted testing Stickers. The company’s Windows phone app on the version 2.18.24 beta has seen this feature rolling out. Along with the new Stickers feature, the beta update also brings a redesigned icon for notification of the same.


The feature hasn’t  been spotted on the Android or iPhone as of now.  Apart from this new feature, the Windows Phone beta also adds Live Location Sharing to the platform.  This feature was present in Android and iOS versions of the app but absent in Windows Phone version. These new features are expected to be rolled out in a week or so for general users.

What are all features in the latest WhatsApp Beta?

The feature was first spotted by WABetaInfo. According to a report by the same, the messaging giant is finally rolling out some of its popular features to the Windows Mobile platform. Firstly, the Live Location sharing feature will now be available. This enables users to share their location in real-time with other people. The user can select with whom to share and the duration. This feature has been available on iOS and Android since months now.

Another feature that application on Windows Phone will now receive is the ability to send Stickers. This can be done both in individual and group chats. Additionally, there is new notification icon for Stickers in WhatsApp.  Notifications will now include a “heart-shaped” logo to inform users, the message contains stickers in them. Also, the code to implement stickers is available for iOS and Android but is disabled. The company will most probably enable it via an update in the future.

The features can be accessed on the Windows Phone by downloading the beta version of WhatsApp from the store. Users interested please do note that beta versions generally tend to have bugs. If you don’t want to deal with the bugs, users you can alternatively wait for the stable version. The stable version with the new features will be rolling out soon. We are also awaiting the arrival of the new stickers feature on other platforms.
