Sharp launches the Aquos S2: The iPhone 8 Cameo with virtually no Bezel
Sharp has already made their name for smartphones with Incredible Bezel – less screens. Today the company announced another Bezel-less display smartphone, the Aquos S2.
Real pedigree of new age smartphones
The Aquos S2 is as close to iPhone 8 as we could possibly imagine. The device has a 5.5-inch 2K display, which is bezel-less with a front camera cutout, and the only Bezel that is on the device is at the bottom where there is room for the home button and fingerprint sensor. The phone bears a strong resemblance to the Essential phone, which was a concept device and was never launched.
Similar to No other device on the market
Unlike other devices which have rounded edges or even the perfect square edges Sharp Aquos S2 edges have been cutoff. Which is a weird design and I am unable to figure out why Sharp has gone with that design.
S2 has a camera unit which resembles heavily with the iPhone 8 leaked images. The device has a dual – camera setup, with two f/1.75 lenses, placed vertically in the left corner with the flash setup under the lenses. S2 represents heavily what a couple of unreleased phones showcased with the leaks and represents the future devices of the coming year.
The device comes in 2 models, the “Standard Edition” has Snapdragon 630 coupled with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB Internal storage. The “High Edition” runs of Snapdragon 660 coupled with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB Internal storage. Both run Android Nougat out of the box, with 3,020 mAh battery and fingerprint sensor in both models. The device is launched at about USD 373 and is only available in China at the moment.
