Google in massive hardware launch event on 4th October launched Google Home, Google WiFi and much more along brand new highly rumored Pixel Smartphones.
There were rumors of google ditching the Nexus brand line and launching Pixel phone reportedly to gain more control over the hardware part of the devices. Well Google unveiled two smartphones Pixel and Pixel XL manufactured by HTC. Here is a quick overview of the devices:

A built-in assistant: Google’s newest voice powered assistant, now called Assistant is a AI based personal assistant which remembers all information, advanced options far handling images and managing interconnected devices.

Powerful cameras: Google Pixel’s 12-megapixel camera enables one to take clear photos in any lightning conditions with advanced image stabilization providing 4K videos and photos like a professional camera. Google said its camera is the highest-rated smartphone camera ever made, according to photo quality site DxOMark. The camera is said to open quicker than any other smartphone camera.

Unlimited storage: The phones are integrated with Google Photos(Google’s own cloud storage solution for images and videos). All photos cand videos will be automatically uploaded and saved in the cloud so that you never run out of storage space. This will no doubt suck your data unlike anything as well as pose a threat to privacy.

Battery life: With just 2770 mAh battery in the Pixel and 3450mAh in the Pixel XL the phone is advertised to last a whole day on a complete charge and provide 7 hours of battery life with just 15 minutes of charge.

Both phones have 4 GB of memory coupled with a top-of-the line Qualcomm 821 Snapdragon processor with a storage space of 64GB of 128GB out of the box and no expandable storage.

Big screens: The Pixel has a 5-inch and Pixel XL has a 5.5-inch 1080p display, which is the same size as the Apple’s newest iPhone 7 Plus.

VR ready: The Pixels are the first phones that will be compatible with Google’s new Daydream VR headset.

Colors: Pixel comes in three interestingly named shades: Quite Black, Very Silver, and Really Blue.
It has a headphone jack unlike Apple’s newest iPhones. In case you didn’t knew most of the people still use the normal headphones. Sorry Apple.

Pricing and Availability: The Pixel and Pixel XL devices will be available through Verizon only but the google will be selling the unlocked versions through their online store. The devices have been priced at $649( Rs 57,000 in India) for the Pixel and $769(Rs 67,000 in India)  for the XL variant.

These phones can be termed as the “First real threat to Apple from Google”. Priced at such a high price these phones are not at all affordable unlike the Nexus devices. Market share of these devices will badly be affected due to their pricing. Devices like One Plus 3 priced at almost half the Pixel devices pricing, Pixel will have a tough time competing with other devices.
