Mi A2 Official India launch confirmed for August 8: Special edition to be launched for Indian Market
Xiaomi launched the 2018 edition of Android One line up in Europe on July 24th. The company has now announced the launch of the new smartphone in India. The Indian launch of Mi A2 has been confirmed for August 8th, The company is also expected to have India only model.
The company will be launching 6GB variant for the Indian market specifically.
Mi A2 is the Android One variant of the Mi 6X which sports a Bezel-less a 5.99-inch full-HD+ 18:9 aspect ratio display, the phone doesn’t have a notch on top. Under the hood, the phone will have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC paired with 4/6GB RAM and 32/64GB internal storage options. In India, the phone may not have a 32GB option but is expected to have a 128GB version
On the Camera segment, the Mi A2 sports a dual camera setup featuring a 20-megapixel primary image sensor with a f/2.0 aperture on top, and an 8-megapixel secondary sensor with a f/1.8 aperture. On the front, the smartphone is rumoured to have a 20-megapixel image sensor with a f/2.0 aperture on top. The phone has a fingerprint sensor at the back.
The phone will be based on Android 8.1 Oreo under the Android One program with minimal Mi apps. The phone will miss-out on 3.5mm headphone jack and will be having USB type-C connectivity with Qualcomm Quick charge 3.0 support.
Price and availability
Mi A2 is about to be launched in India in a closed event on August 8th, the smartphone will be available in 4 or 5 different colours namely Gold, Rose Gold, Black, Lake Blue and Red. Price of the phone is yet to be announced, but it is expected to have 3 models 4+64Gb, 6+64Gb and 6+128Gb.
It is expected to price above Redmi Note 5 pro, Which is priced at Rs 14,999 for 4Gb and Rs 17,999 for 6Gb. The Android One smartphone will be priced for 18,999 for the 4Gb and 21,999 for the 6GB, with 128Gb storage option priced even higher.
The 6+128GB model may be India specific initially.
