iPhone 12 launch may be delayed: Suggests Qualcomm
Apple has been following a tradition of launching its latest offering of iPhones in September. Since the start of this tradition the only phone which have been launched other time is the iPhone SE. Both the versions of SE did bring the old body and new processor and were announced in March/April. While iPhone X was announced in September but there was a delay in availability. This time it seems to be a similar case as Apple iPhone 12 might get announced September but won’t be available till October end.
A report from Qualcomm revealed a difference in the projection of 3rd and 4th quarter sales which was cleared by the statement “a partial impact from the delay of a global 5G flagship phone launched” from the headquarters in San Diego.

Indicates the launch delayed
As per the reports the Chief Financial Officer of Qualcomm Mr. Akash Palkhiwala has said in an interview with Reuters that there will be “a slight delay that pushes some of the units out from the September quarters to the December quarters for us”. With reference to this statement, we can assume that he is talking about the delay in the launch of the new iPhone series. As he did not mention any name and iPhone new series will a next-generation 5G smartphone.
Confirmation for the October launch
According to the Palkhiwala statement, the new iPhone will be launched in October. As the December quarter of Qualcomm lies between October, November, and December. Although, Apple has a history of launching its new smartphone in September. Such as iPhone X and XR that were launch in September but reached the store a little later. Moreover, it could happen that the series will be late released as the sale of Apple had been slowed down because of the coronavirus outbreak. Apart from this, a tweet for the famous tipster account Mr. Jon Prosser had mentioned the launch in October.
Some expected features in the Qualcomm-backed 5G iPhone
Apple has partnered with Qualcomm to develop an iPhone chip in Aprile last year. This partnership is based on the Cupertino company will offer 5G support for its new series. Moreover, the new iPhone is expected to support sub-6GHz 5G while premium, iPhone 12Pro, and Pro Max will have millimeter wave(mmWave) 5G technology. Apart from this, the new iPhone is expected to be costlier than the iPhone 11 series.
