Escobar Fold 2: Deal of the Decade or Scam?
Escobar Inc., The company owned by infamous Colombian Drug-lord Pablo Escobar’s brother. Roberto Escobar owned company is on the digital world with a tremendous amount of marketing behind. From 2014, Escobar inc has been back in business selling rights developing their own business. Escobar Inc has 2 folding smartphones under its portfolio both priced under $400. The current offering from the company is Escobar Fold 2.
Escobar Fold 2: Specifications
The Escobar Inc. smartphone sports a very uncanny resemblance to Samsung’s Galaxy Fold, which was Samsung’s ambitious attempt to reach out at to this genre of devices. Although the Galaxy Fold was work in progress even months after the launch, now The Escobar phone has used the same ensemble with an eye-catchy Gold finish and rebranded the Galaxy Fold to Escobar Fold 2.
The Escobar Fold 2 comes with a 7.30-inch QHD primary display and a secondary 4.6inch HD display. Under the hood, powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset coupled with 12GB RAM and the Adreno 640 GPU.
The phone has 4380 mAh battery capacity with a fast-charging option.
On the Camera front, The Escobar Fold 2 on the rear packs a 16-megapixel primary camera with an f/F2.2 aperture; a second 12-megapixel camera with an f/F1.5/F2.4 aperture and a third 12-megapixel camera with an f/F2.4 aperture.
While there is no word for additional features of the smartphone, The phone has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.
Why the resemblance?
Besides the similarity in the features, there is a significant difference in the prices of the smartphone. The Samsung Galaxy Fold is priced at $1800 whereas the Escobar Fold 2 is priced at $399 only which less than one-fourth the price of the original.
Escobar Inc. is working on a campaign called RipSamsung which is their attempt to kill off Samsung’s most ambitious device and sell it off under their brand name and slowly take its position at the top. It seems to be a very Escobar approach to take the competition directly with the leader and make their mark.
Where is the Scam?
The Escobar Fold 2 seems to be a great deal but the accountability of the Escobar Inc is still a question. With consumers saying the Escobar Fold 1 has still not reached even after 6 months of order. Plus, there is no word on the UI which the phone is using.
As the brand is not accountable enough data privacy might be an issue to. But as it is a rip-off of the Samsung galaxy Fold we might be able to factory reset to the Samsung’s settings. While we don’t recommend this smartphone as there is a possibility of never getting the phone. But if you are into gambling this looks like the best deal to gamble over.
